Data Storage & Collection

What We Store

Trackly stores all your tracking data locally on your Android device using SQLite database. This includes:

• Custom trackers you create (names, custom fields, settings)
• Tracking entries (values, dates, notes, photos)
• App settings and preferences
• Reminders and notifications configurations

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party data sharing.

Offline-First Architecture

Trackly is designed to work 100% offline. All features except AI Chat function without an internet connection:

• Create and manage unlimited trackers
• View analytics and charts
• Set reminders and notifications
• Backup & Restore tracker/app data

AI Features

Trackly includes optional AI-powered insights and chat features. These features require you to provide your own Gemini API key.

You have complete control: AI features are entirely optional and can be disabled at any time in settings.

Data Security

Your data security is paramount:

• Local Storage: All data is stored locally on your device using Android's secure inbuilt database
• Encrypted Backups: App backup/restore feature always uses encryption to protect your data. Automatic backups can optionally be encrypted
• Plain Text Exports: Individual tracker CSV exports, data portability ZIP exports, and AI chat markdown exports are in plain text format for easy readability and portability
• No External Access: No one, including us, can access your data
• Device Security: Your data security depends on your device's security settings

Data Backup & Export

You have full control over your data:

• Export: Export all your data at any time in JSON format
• Import: Import previously exported data
• Backup: Create backups to your device storage or cloud services of your choice
• Delete: Permanently delete all data from the app

Permissions

Trackly follows a privacy-first approach to permissions. We only request permissions when you actually try to use a feature that needs them, and it's always your choice to accept or decline.

Automatic Permissions (Granted at Install)

These are standard permissions that don't require your explicit approval:

• Vibration: To provide haptic feedback during interactions
• Billing: For in-app purchases (Google Play Billing)
• Boot Completed: To restart reminders after device reboot
• Exact Alarms: To schedule precise reminder times
• Storage: For file operations using scoped storage (Android 13+)

Optional Permissions (Requested When Needed)

These permissions are only requested when you try to use the specific feature. The app will ask for your permission, and you can choose to accept or decline. If you decline, the feature won't work, but the rest of the app functions normally.

• Camera: Asked when you tap the camera button to capture photos for tracking entries
• Notifications: Asked when you enable reminders (required on Android 13+)
• Location: Asked when you try to capture GPS coordinates for location-based parameters
• Microphone: Asked when you tap voice input for audio notes or AI chat
• Biometric: Asked when you enable fingerprint/face unlock for the app

Children's Privacy

Trackly does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since all data is stored locally, children can use the app safely under parental guidance.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
