No! Trackly works completely offline. All your data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. You only need internet for AI features like chat insights and generating tracker recommendations. All core tracking functionality works without any internet connection.

AI Features
Trackly's AI assistant is your personal data analyst and tracking companion. It can:
- Create custom trackers through natural conversation
- Generate charts and visualizations from your data (8 chart types: line, bar, pie, area, scatter, grouped bar, stacked area, horizontal bar)
- Analyze trends, patterns, and anomalies in your tracking data
- Provide personalized insights and actionable recommendations
- Answer questions about your data in natural language
- Detect correlations between different trackers
- Generate summaries and progress reports
- Help you set up reminders with natural language (e.g., "remind me every 4 hours")
- Suggest tracker ideas from templates or custom configurations
No, absolutely not. Your tracking data is never used to train AI models. When you use AI features, your data is sent securely to process your request and then immediately discarded. We respect your privacy and never store or use your personal tracking data beyond providing you with insights.
Yes! You can customize how the AI assistant communicates with you. Choose from different personality presets (Professional, Friendly, Motivational, etc.) or create your own custom personality by defining the tone, style, and approach you prefer.
No, AI features require an internet connection to function. However, all your core tracking functionality works completely offline. You can continue to log entries, view your data, and use all non-AI features without internet.
Trackly offers 8 different chart types for visualizing your data:
- Line Chart: Perfect for trends over time (e.g., weight changes, mood patterns)
- Bar Chart: Great for categorical comparisons and discrete data points
- Area Chart: Shows volume and magnitude over time with filled areas
- Pie Chart: Displays proportions and percentages of a whole
- Scatter Chart: Reveals correlations between two variables
- Grouped Bar Chart: Compares multiple series side-by-side
- Stacked Area Chart: Shows cumulative totals with individual contributions
- Horizontal Bar Chart: Like bar charts but better for long category names
You can create charts via AI chat (natural language) or manually in tracker settings. All charts support touch interaction and date range filtering.
Data Management
All your data is stored locally on your Android device using SQLite database. Nothing is stored in the cloud unless you explicitly create a backup. This means you have complete control over your data and can use Trackly entirely offline.
Yes! Trackly includes comprehensive backup and restore features. You can create a complete backup of all your trackers, entries, and settings as a JSON file. Save this file to your device storage, cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox), or any location you prefer. You can restore from a backup at any time.
Absolutely! You can export your data in multiple formats including CSV (for spreadsheets) and JSON (for programmatic access). Export individual trackers or all your data at once. This ensures you always have access to your data and can analyze it with external tools if needed.
Yes! Trackly supports importing data from CSV files. If you have data from another tracking app, export it as CSV and import it into Trackly. The import wizard will guide you through mapping columns to tracker parameters. You can preview the data before confirming the import.
Since data is stored locally, it's important to create regular backups. We recommend saving backups to cloud storage (like Google Drive) so you can restore your data on a new device. Set reminders to create backups regularly, or automate this through your device's file sync settings.
Templates & Sharing
Templates are pre-configured trackers created by the Trackly community. They provide a quick-start option for common tracking needs like fitness, reading, mood tracking, etc. You can browse the template library, preview templates, and install them with one tap. Once installed, you can customize them to fit your exact needs.
Yes! Trackly offers integrated GitHub template sharing:
- Share any tracker as a template by clicking "Share as Template" in the tracker settings
- Enter your GitHub username to submit your tracker as a GitHub issue
- Your tracker configuration (including all parameters, types, units, and settings) is serialized and submitted
- If you update a shared tracker, it automatically updates the GitHub issue
- Other users can browse and install your template with one tap from the "Explore Templates" screen
- Track your sharing status with built-in indicators
This makes it easy to share your tracking setups with friends, family, or the broader Trackly community!
Trackly includes curated built-in templates for common tracking needs. These templates come pre-configured with appropriate parameters, input types (including slider ranges and list values), units of measurement, and suggested target values. You can browse templates in the "Explore Templates" screen, preview their configuration, and install them with one tap. Once installed, you can customize them to fit your exact needs - they're just a starting point to get you tracking faster!

Reminders & Notifications
Yes! Trackly offers flexible reminder options with 5 different reminder types:
- One-Time: Single reminder at a specific date and time
- Daily Schedule: Repeats daily at specific times on selected days of the week
- Multiple Daily: Multiple reminders per day within a time range (e.g., 3 times between 9 AM and 9 PM)
- Interval: Repeats at regular intervals (e.g., every 4 hours, every 2 days)
- Advanced: Use cron expressions for complex custom schedules
You can set reminders at the tracker level (for the whole tracker) or at the entry level (for specific entries like birthdays or appointments). Each tracker can have multiple reminders with customizable notification preferences.
You can manage notification permissions in your device's app settings. On Android 13+, you'll be prompted to allow notifications when you create your first reminder. You can also enable/disable notifications for Trackly at any time through Android Settings > Apps > Trackly > Notifications.
Reminder snooze functionality is planned for a future update. Currently, you can dismiss reminders or tap to open the app and log your entry. You can also temporarily disable reminders in the tracker settings by toggling the active status, or customize notification preferences to disable phone notifications, dashboard notifications, or haptic feedback individually.
Data Analysis & Insights
Trackly's AI intelligently aggregates your data based on the time range and metric type:
Time Grouping Options:
- None (individual entries), Day, Week, Month, Year
Aggregation Functions:
- Average: Mean value (default for most metrics)
- Sum: Total accumulation (e.g., water intake, exercise minutes)
- Count: Number of entries (e.g., workout frequency)
- Min/Max: Minimum or maximum value in period
- First/Last: First or last recorded value
The AI automatically selects the best combination based on your request. For example, "daily average mood for the last month" groups by day and uses average aggregation.
Trackly's AI analyzes your data to provide 6 types of insights:
- Trend Analysis: Identifies direction (increasing, decreasing, stable, cyclical) and rate of change
- Anomaly Detection: Flags unusual spikes, missing data periods, or inconsistent patterns
- Correlation Analysis: Reveals relationships between different trackers (e.g., "Sleep and mood seem positively correlated")
- Goal Progress: Tracks current vs target values with timeline estimates
- Pattern Recognition: Detects recurring patterns like "weekend spikes" or "morning dips"
- Actionable Suggestions: Provides personalized recommendations based on your data
Yes! All charts in the Insights screen support dynamic date range filtering with 9 time ranges:
- Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 3 Months, Last 6 Months
- This Year, Last Year, All Time
- Custom Range (select specific start and end dates)
Charts update instantly when you change the date range, and all chart types support touch interaction to see exact values at any data point.
Privacy & Security
Absolutely. All your tracking data is stored locally on your device and never uploaded to any servers. When you use AI features, only the minimum necessary data is sent securely and is immediately discarded after processing. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
App-level password protection is planned for a future update. For now, you can use your device's built-in security features like screen lock, app pinning, or secure folder functionality to protect your Trackly data.
Trackly collects minimal anonymous usage data to improve the app (like crash reports and feature usage statistics). We never collect your actual tracking data or personally identifiable information. You can opt out of analytics in the app settings. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
